2012 New Sunday Evening Service

Here at CCLW we are preparing to implement some changes that God has laid upon our hearts. As members of the body here at CCLW, we want you to know what will be changing so that you can pray and prepare to engage in what God is doing.

We invite you to join us as we step forward in obedience to the vision that God has given.

For the past few years our Wednesday Evening services have included a time of ministering to one another. These times have been fresh, exciting, and hugely instrumental in our individual growth! That is because the body of Christ was designed by God to grow as the members minister to one another
(Ephesians 4:16).

God has laid upon our hearts a new Sunday Evening Service where we can continue to practice the one another ministry.

This service will be very different from our Sunday Morning and Wednesday Evening services. This service will be focused on allowing members of the body to minister to one another. We will allow the Spirit to lead us, so each week will be slightly different depending on what God wants to do.

These services will include worship, a short exhortation, prayer requests, praise reports, prayer for one another, ministering to one another, exercising of spiritual gifts.

This “One Another Ministry” is essential for our individual growth, our care for one another, and our unity in the Lord. I pray that you will consider joining us as we journey toward maturity. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

The Bible In 3 Years

…Starting January 2012…
theBibleIn3Years (1)

For many years we have encouraged you to read through the whole Bible, offering a one year reading plan. God has given us new direction for next year.

We invite you to join us as we read through the whole Bible in three years, from Genesis to Revelation.

Along with the reading plan we will offer the following things to enrich your time in the Word.

Starting in January, our Wednesday evening services will be changed to an overview teaching of all the chapters we read that week.

As you read through the Bible you may have questions about customs, history, doctrine or other details. You will be able to send questions by email or text message and one of the pastors will respond with an answer.

We will answer some of the questions with short videos that will be posted online. That way you will be able to benefit from the questions others have asked.

Our Purpose

The purpose of Calvary Chapel Living Water is to equip the saints to Invite people to Jesus, Believe in Jesus, and Serve one another in love by the Holy Spirit.

Invite People To Jesus

We believe that one of the primary reasons God has called us to gather together in His name is to invite people to Jesus. As a result, we seek to present the gospel in our services. We also reach out to our community as God leads. And we send out and support the missionaries that God has raised up.

Believe In Jesus

The second reason God has called us to gather together is to grow in our belief of Jesus and learn to live out our faith. As a result, we emphasize the teaching of the whole counsel of the Word of God. Our ministries exist to help you apply the Word of God to your unique circumstances and place in life.

Serve One Another

The third reason God has called us to gather together is to serve each other in love by the power of the Holy Spirit. As a result, we encourage you to exercise the gifts that God has given you to meet practical and spiritual needs. Where appropriate, we also give opportunity in our services for the body to minister to each other in prayer or Scripture or spiritual gift.

Pastor Cisco Is Cancer Free!

Pastor Cisco spent the day at the hospital yesterday, having some tests and scans done to check for blood clots. Everything came back clear. No clots anywhere in his body. All of his blood work shows a real positive impact from his surgery.

The biopsy came back positive, it was malignant kidney cancer. The fatty tissue of the kidney protected it from spreading in his body. So he is cancer free!! He requires no chemo-therapy, radiation or anything like that. They will continue to check his blood every six months, but other than that there is no treatment plan.

Please pray for:

-Lenora (his nurse from yesterday), she just became a Christian. She is attending Harvest and asked for prayer in her faith, that she would continue to grow.

-Eva (his doctor from yesterday), she is asking for prayer for strength for her stressful life as a doctor.

-Mark (the technician specialist), he is a new believer and was baptized, but he knows he needs to attend a Christian church. He asked for prayer that God would lead him to the right church.

His Mercy Endures Forever!

James 5:16 The effective fervent PRAYER of a righteous man avails much. Praise be to OUR LORD and SAVIOR for He has done Great Things. My wife &  I for lack of better words are overwhelmed by GODS Goodness and HIS Love, through you. Because of the Lords Will and YOUR PRAYERS I was released from the hospital today (5/22/2011). We want to thank OUR LORD and you from the depths of our hearts, for your PRAYER, Love and Support. Please continue to pray for the biopsy results, that it will go according to HIS Will.

Pastor Cisco Update – 5/20/2011

Today I was able to spend some time with Pastor Cisco. He is doing well. I can really see a difference from yesterday to today. His face is lifted, his eyes are brighter, and his thoughts are clearer.

He is still in pain, but it is getting better. He is able to stand up, and walk a tiny bit. One doctor who was in the surgery came by this morning to check on Cisco. The doctor said that things are looking well. Tomorrow the catheter will be taken out, some of the bandages will be removed, and he will be off of one of the pain medications.

Pastor Cisco is faithfully ministering to those that are tending to him. Please keep Omar in prayer, he is the nurse today. He is a believer, but working through some marriage issues and trying to find a solid church near his home for his family to be plugged in. Cisco asked that we please pray for the love of God to be revealed.

Also, please pray for salvation for Marissa Alcantara, she is the wife of one of the people involved in his surgery. When Micah and I first saw Cisco after his surgery, there was a note taped to his chest with her name on it. He was barely able to speak, but he pulled the note off of his chest and asked us to pray for her.

Visitors are welcome, but please be mindful of Pastor Cisco’s rest. Also, please respect his family and give them first priority. Also be mindful of the hospital staff, and Pastor Cisco’s roommate.

As I talked with Pastor Cisco today, he shared these thoughts for us to consider…

Through this I have learned how real and powerful the love of God is through the body of Christ. I don’t think it is possible to fully understand without going through something like this.

I think about what it says in Hebrews, how Jesus endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him. I don’t want to go through pain, I don’t want others to go through pain, but without the cross there is no joy.

I feel like a tire, after the tread is worn down, the performance is not there. Then other people who have not given up come to mind, and it encourages me not to give up. I realize I want to give up when it hurts because I am selfish. Every time I think about giving up, faces of the church come to mind.

I want people to know the joy of the Lord and how uplifting the church body is. When you can’t go on the church body keeps you going.

Share your faults and shortcomings, along with the love of Christ. Christianity is an outreach. Let your light shine before all men. Your struggles and failures can comfort people.

Update On Pastor Cisco

Pastor Cisco’s surgery is tomorrow. The pain has increased a little each day leading up to the surgery. And the pain medication he is on has been messing with his mind a lot. He has been experiencing anxiety, flashbacks, and things like that.

The surgery will take place around 7am tomorrow (Tuesday, May 17th). He is expected to be in surgery for around 5-6 hours.

I will be posting updates tomorrow on Facebook and Twitter. Please wait until Cisco and Micah give the green light to visit. We will share visiting information when the time is appropriate.

Pastor Cisco and Micah both appreciate all of your prayers, and the amazing display of love and support that all of you have given.

Update On Pastor Cisco

All of the pre-operation tests are going really well. His diabetes is under control, his heart is doing good. Also the chest scans came back clean, so it does not look like it has not spread in his body.

The surgery is still set for May 17th. He will be in the hospital a few days after the surgery, and will be recovering at home for 5 to 6 weeks after that.

Pastor Cisco has expressed how much the body has ministered to him, and how blessed he is by all of your prayers and encouragement.

Many people have been dropping by, and that has been encouraging. We also would like to remind you to contact Micah before going to their house to make sure that the time for visiting is appropriate. They are trying to balance the blessing of the visits and the rest that is needed.

There is a financial need for Pastor Cisco and Micah, with the deductible for the surgery, and other expenses. The exact costs for them are not yet known. If you would like to help them financially, you can send your checks to the church, and write “Cisco & Micah” in the memo. You can also contribute online by clicking here, and make sure you specify in the notes that it is for Cisco and Micah.

Pray For Pastor Cisco & Micah

Please keep Pastor Cisco and Micah in your prayers. They learned today that he has a 4” mass consuming his right kidney. The surgery to remove the mass and kidney is scheduled for May 17th. Until then he is on very heavy pain medication.

Needless to say, they will need lots of support. Pastor Cisco has been such a blessing to so many in the body, this is an opportunity for us to love on him and Micah and show them how much they mean to us.

Pastor Cisco will not be around the church, so you can also pray for those who will be handling his responsibilities.
Luis Cortez – Sunday Mornings & Sunday Evenings
Mario Mendoza – Wednesday Evenings
Gilbert Ramos – Friday Evenings

The journey ahead will be difficult and long, but the Lord will be with Pastor Cisco and Micah, the Spanish Ministry and the whole body at Living Water, every step of the way.

Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

About 25 couples were able to participate in this year’s marriage retreat! It was an incredible weekend! Pastor Gayle Erwin taught all five sessions, giving us insight into the Biblical view of marriage. God did a neat work in many couples’ hearts, it was a blessing to be part of it. Many thanks to Dave and Jacque for their hard work putting the weekend together for us!
