Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, by Jim Cymbala

Sometimes we can do everything within our power to try to accomplish what we hope will come to past. Then comes some disappointing insight – as it turns out, what is within our power is not very much at all. When it comes to trying to achieve our desires through our own methods and tactics, we fail and bitterly at that. It is not until we submit to the Lord, humble and full of recognition that we truly need Him, that we can actually bring God glory and count it all for joy. We need the Lord! Everything we do is in vain if the Lord is not included in it. Consider the Brooklyn Tabernacle, where Pastor Jim Cymbala inherited the duties of running this broken down, and almost forgotten church. Worried over bills and the lack of people hearing the Lord’s message, Pastor Jim found himself in a fret over the future of a church that had once had the hopes of touching the lives of many people. Surrounded by fears, worries, and the spiritually dead – Pastor Jim cried out to the Lord, and the Lord gave him some surprising wisdom, “God is attracted to weakness. He can’t resist those who humbly and honestly admit how desperately they need Him.” God will not fail us where we need Him most. Submit to the Lord, and realize your need for Him and the Lord will not be defeated in using us to bring Him glory. Remember the right way to conduct ourselves, the right way to attain peace, is by following the will of God. -Justine
