Genesis 6, What Were The Nephilim?

Question: What were the Nephilites? Answer:  The word translated as "giants" in Genesis 6:4 is the Hebrew word Nephilim. It means bully, tyrant, or giant. These giants are the subject of much discussion because where they come from is uncertain, but the verse links it to sons of God having relations with daughters of men. One view is that "sons of God" refers to descendants of Seth, and they married women who did not know God. Another view is that "sons of God" refers to fallen angels, meaning that these giants were the result of demonic activities. There is not sufficient evidence to say which is correct for sure and there are good teachers who hold each view. -PJ
