Genesis 10, Nimrod

Question: So, Nimrod was a mighty one and was seen as a great hunter? He was also the one that was supposedly born of a virgin and died and rose after 3 days, right? Why was he referenced in such a way as to appear mighty in verse 9? Answer: There are many thoughts and theories about Nimrod. These come from trying to correlate secular history, legends and names. Unfortunately, scholars do not always agree and since the Bible does not say, we cannot know for sure. That being said, Jewish tradition says that "mighty hunter" is not a compliment, but that he fought against the Lord and taught men to rebel against God. The legend that he died and rose 3 days later is presented by Alexander Hislop in his book The Two Babylons. -PJ
