Genesis 26, Why did Isaac open so many wells?

Question: Why did Isaac open so many wells? and why he name them, do they mean something more then just a name? Answer: Water is an extremely precious commodity in the wilderness, and Isaac had family, servants and many animals to provide for. He had to keep on digging new wells, because after he did the work and obtained water, then the Philistine herdsmen would claim they dug it and there were quarrels and disputes. So to keep peace, Isaac would move on to another location and dig another well. This happened repeatedly until Genesis 26:31 when Abimelech made a covenant with Isaac. -PJ
