Genesis 39:20, Was this a special place for these prisoners?

Question: PJ, how come in Gen. 39:20 it says Then Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners [were] confined. Is this means it was a special place for these prisoners? Answer: Yes. It seems there was a special prison set aside for those who committed certain crimes, or were specifically charged by Pharaoh himself. Perhaps in the same way that we have state prisons and federal prisons today. Some people suggest this prison would be a less-harsh environment, others suggest that it would be more harsh. -PJ
