Judges 12:1-7, Was Jephthah fighting another tribe of Israel?

Question: Was Jephthah fighting another tribe of Israel?  If yes, why?  Didn't the Lord command to take out the other inhabitants?  Not one another?Answer: Yes, Jephthah was fighting with another tribe of Israel.  It seems that the tribe of Ephraim felt slighted by Jephthah.  They were angry that they did not receive any of the credit for the victory over Ammon.  The tribe of Ephraim had an opportunity to step out boldly for God but did not do so.  Yet, after the work was accomplished and God received the glory, they complained that they did not get to participate.  They had a similar complaint against Gideon in Judges 8:1.  -PG
