Question: Matt 24:22 Speaks of the tribulation being shortened for the Elect. This verse as well as verses 9-14 seem to suggest there will be a period of tribulation or "The Tribulation" in which believers will be here on earth suffering through that. How do you differentiate portions where Jesus is speaking of general Tribulations and "The Tribulation" because we do believe we will be raptured before the Tribulation period.
Answer: All believers will be caught up in the rapture before The Tribulation (1 Corinthians 15:51), but there will be people who become believers during The Tribulation. The difference between general tribulation and The Tribulation is found in the context. In this case, Matthew 24:9-14 is general tribulation. We know that Jesus begins talking about The Tribulation in verse 15 because He refers to the abomination of desolation which is referred to in a Revelation and Daniel. -PJ
