Leviticus 5:4, What is a thoughtless oath?

Question: When it mentions not to swear in. Lev 5, what is an example of a thoughtless oath? Answer: A thoughtless oath is a promise that is made without thinking through whether or not that promise can be kept. The point is that promises are binding even if you did not think it through. Examples: Promise to God to obey, promise to be somewhere on time, promise to read the Bible in 3 years. It is a sin to break a promise and must be atoned for with sacrifice. -PJ
